And in the blink of an eye—the last and final week of our CIC content blast has come to a close!

This month has been a total whirlwind with incredible Industry Professionals (IPs), really insightful conversations, and tons of fruitful advice. One more MASSIVE thank you to each and every single IP who took part in CIC 2021 and set aside the time to share their own personal stories, and all of their best tips and tricks.

For week 4, we ended with a bang, looking into two totally different industries with the bonus of TWO podcasts in one week! We first talked to Chris Brumwell, the Vice President of Communications, Fan, and Community Engagement at Canucks Sports & Entertainment. Then we interviewed an SFU CMNS alumni, Danielle Davie, who is a Technical Writer at Google!

On Wednesday, our fourth CMNSU & Friends episode hosted by Gen and Sydney, with our guest Chris went live on Spotify and Apple Music! With decades of experience under his belt, Chris emphasized the importance of making any and all the connections that you possibly can. Often, new opportunities or jobs can grow from the least expected connections. Chris also talked about his experience with working on the Vancouver 2010 Olympics, and how that was a super pivotal moment for him personally and professionally.

On Friday, our fifth CMNSU & Friends episode with Gen, Sydney, and Danielle went live on both Spotify and Apple Podcasts! With first-hand experience at SFU as a Communication major in the Co-op program, Danielle was able to shed more light on how important it is to fully put yourself out there, especially when job searching, and to not be intimidated by skills or posting that you may not be familiar with or maybe don’t already possess. As Danielle notes, there is always more room for growth, but you can never really go back and apply to that job later down the line. Danielle also shares some insider secrets to the industry, so this is a great listen for finding out more about technical writing!

Thank you again to Chris, Danielle, and all of the CMNS students that interacted with this week’s content! Over the past 3 weeks, we have covered a diverse range of industries and connected with multiple skilled IPs. If you missed any week’s content don’t worry, you can find all this month’s CIC 2021 content available on Instagram @cmnsu, and our podcast CMNSU&Friends on Spotify and Apple Music now! You don’t want to miss out on valuable academic advice and career inspiration!

See you soon!
